Denver signs Shanahan to extension
Football Betting Lines
04/09/2007 - Englewood, CO (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Denver Broncos have given head coach Mike Shanahan a three-year contract extension.
The 54-year-old Shanahan, who has spent the last 12 seasons in Denver, will remain with the Broncos through the 2011 season.
During his time in Denver, Shanahan has compiled a record of 123-69 and has led the Broncos to Super Bowl championships after the 1997 and 1998 seasons.
His 123 victories with the franchise rank as the 11th-best for any coach with one team.
This upcoming season, Shanahan will move past Dan Reeves as the longest tenured head coach in team history.
Before becoming head coach of the Broncos, Shanahan served as an assistant coach for seven years. Overall, he has spent 20 seasons with the Denver organization.
Last season, Shanahan's club looked like a playoff lock when it jumped out to a 7-2 start to the season, but faltered down the stretch and finished with a disappointing 9-7 mark, and missed the playoffs for the first time in the last four seasons.
Shanahan also serves as the executive vice president of football operations for the team.
